AHMEDABAD: Gujarat reported 9,995 Covid-19 cases and 104 deaths from the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the state s tally and toll to 7,35,348 and 8,944 respectively, an official said on Friday.
The daily addition of cases went below the 10000-mark after 27 days, when 9,541 people were detected with the infection on April 17, he pointed out. Of the 104 deaths, 16 occurred in Ahmedabad district, 13 in Surat, 10 in Vadodara and 10 in Rajkot district. Of the new cases, Ahmedabad city led with 2,764, followed by 639 in Vadodara city, 631 in Surat district, 429 in Vadodara district, 338 in Mehsana, 316 in Rajkot city and 306 in Rajkot district, he said.
BJP worker vents out his ire when Parbhu Vasava visits community isolation centre in Surat on Wednesday
Surat: BJP MP from Bardoli Prabhu Vasava faced the ire of a BJP worker at a Covid-19 isolation centre in Puna area of the city on Wednesday. Mahesh Hirpara, secretary of ward 16 (Puna West) of city BJP unit, was angry with his party leaders since he did not get their help in arranging proper treatment for his cousin brother who succumbed to Covid-19 recently.
Videos of the incident went viral in which Hirpara is seen angrily shouting at the BJP leaders including Vasava. The MP was accompanied by local BJP leaders.

SURAT: Surat city recorded 790 new Covid-19 cases even as eight persons died of the virus infection on Tuesday. According to Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), those who died due to coronavirus included a 34-year-old woman from Pal, a 47-year-old woman from Bhestan, and a 59-year-old woman from Nanpura among others. Five of the eight persons who scummed to Covid-19 were women.
Among the eight zones in the city, Rander recorded the highest number of cases with 214, while the lowest was recorded in Varachha (A) zone, 51 cases.
According to SMC official, as on Tuesday, 47,500 people were under home quarantine and 2,586 patients are admitted in different Covid-19 hospitals in the city.
