Dom Rep national among 3 held, 100 kilos of marijuana seized

Police said a national from the Dominican Republic was among three persons held on Sunday night in Cunupia after over 100 kilogrammes of marijuana was discovered. The find was made by officers of the North Eastern Divisional Gang Intelligence Unit led by Insp Sunil Bharath and Sgt Mitchell. Loop News was told that officers made their way to High Street, Siparia, where they had cause to stop and search a white Nissan Panel van. Over 70 packages containing what appeared to be compressed marijuana were found and seized in the vehicle. All three occupants were arrested as a result. The operation was coordinated by Snr Sup Maharaj, Sup Alexander, Sup Ramjohn, and ASP Beharry.

Police seize guns, ammo during operations

Two guns and over 60 rounds of assorted ammunition were found during police exercises in the North Eastern Division. The operation begun at 11pm on Tuesday and ended at about 6am on Wednesday and was supervised by ACP Belfon, Snr Sup Maharaj, Sup Alexander, Sup Ramjohn, and others. The officers made their way to Carmona Lane in Santa Cruz, where they conducted a search at a structure off the roadway. Police said there, a Venezuelan-made 12-gauge shotgun was found and seized. No one was arrested as no one was near the scene at the time. The officers then received intelligence which led them to Mt Hope Road, Mt Hope.

Uzi, marijuana seized in Barataria

An Uzi Submachine gun, as well as over six kilogrammes of marijuana, were seized in Barataria last night. The find was made by officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force under the direction of Sgt Martin, Cpl Daniel, and Cpl Duncan. The officers received intelligence which led them to a bushy area off Sixth Avenue where a search was conducted. Here, the lawmen found and seized the illegal items. No one was arrested as at the time of the discovery there were no persons within sufficient proximity. The operation was spearheaded by Snr Sup Maharaj, Sup Alexander, ASP Parriman, Insp Ramsingh, and others.
