SUBLETTE – Increasing call volume and a dwindling head count at the Sublette Fire Department have put additional strains on providing services to the community. In order to help bring individuals into the department, the Sublette Fire Department will have an open house and recruitment drive on Sunday, March 21st at 2 PM at the fire station. According to Assistant Fire Chief Nick Dinges, it is harder to recruit and retain volunteers to work with local first responders, especially as many are employed in neighboring towns during the day and not able to make every call. Currently, the department has 12 EMT volunteers, but according to Dinges, could always use more. They are hoping to increase their ranks to over 30 members, and are willing to help pay for training. The Sunday event will feature the fire department cutting a car apart and hands on EMS training.
