KARACHI: With most bike assemblers looking towards China for collaboration in the local assembly of electric bikes (e-bikes), a Punjab-based assembler claims to have introduced an indigenous model in the market that is also cheaper on the wallet.
“We have introduced the JE-70 e-bike with our indigenously developed technology. No foreign funding, no joint venture with the Chinese or any country in the world,” said Mohammad Usman Sheikh, the CEO of Jolta Electric, in a conversation with
Dawn on Monday.
Last week, Prime Minister Imran Khan launched Jolta’s JE-70 model at a ceremony held in Islamabad. The locally developed e-bike is priced at Rs82,500 and has a maximum speed limit of 60 km per hour.

Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal says industrialists are turning to Punjab due to the provincial government s investor-friendly policies.
He wa stalking to a delegation of All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association which called on him in Lahore.
During the meeting, the Minister said that Punjab has a very conducive environment for investment and all possible facilities are being provided to industrialists to establish their business.
He said all possible assistance will be provided to relocate All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association to shift its industrial units at Quaid-e-Azam Business Park.

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that Auto Parts Technology Park would be set up on nine acres of land in Quaid-e-Azam Business Park, Sheikhupura.
He said this while chairing a meeting held to review performance of PIEDMC, progress on the ongoing schemes and implementation strategy of new schemes. He observed that the technology park would have product designing, training centre, parts manufacturing unit, testing and other facilities. He said that the Punjab government had paved the way for the industrial revolution by setting up new industrial zones in the province. Colonization of industrial estates can accelerate economic growth, so PIEDMC should focus on colonization of industrial zones, he said.

Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal has revealed that the government of Punjab is planning to set up Auto Parts Technology Park near Lahore in a bid to support the growing industrialisation.
The new facility will be constructed at the Quaid-e-Azam Business Park, Sheikhupura, a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of the multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and one of the eight industrial parks working under the Punjab government.
During a meeting with members of the Punjab Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (PIEDMC), Iqbal pointed out that the Auto Parts Technology Park would be established on nine acres of land and it would facilitate the auto sector in terms of product design, training centres, parts manufacturing, testing and allied facilities.
