Prisoners attack fellow inmate at Central Jail

606 Amritsar, May 3 An inmate at the Central Jail identified as Sukhwant Singh, alias Sukha, was injured when three fellow prisoners attacked him inside a barrack over an old enmity on Sunday. The jail staff have recovered a sharp weapon and an iron rod from the accused. Bahadur Singh, Assistant Superintendent, Central Jail, said prisoners identified as Karanbir Singh, alias Baba; Arshpreet Singh and Satnam Singh attacked Sukhwant Singh in the jail leaving him seriously injured. He sustained serious head injury and therefore was rushed to the jail hospital for treatment. The jail medical officer on seeing his injury referred him to the Civil Hospital, where the victim is under treatment. He said during search, the jail staff found an iron piece and sharp-edged weapon from the accused.

NIA chargesheets 8 Khalistani terrorist for killing Comrade Sandhu inTarn Taran New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) The anti-terror probe agency NIA on Tuesday said it has filed a charge sheet against eight terrorists (accused persons) of Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) for their involvement in the killing of the Shaurya Chakra awardee Comrade Balwinder Singh Sandhu, in Tarn Taran on October 16 last year. Officials in the agency said the charge sheet has been filed under various sections of sections 120B, 201, 212 and 302 of IPC, Sections 25(1B) and 27 of Arms Act and Sections 16, 17, 18, 18B, 20, 23, 38, 39 and 40 of UA (P) Act before NIA Special Court at Mohali in Punjab.
