This report concerns the Gender Justice and Local Government programme for Gender Links Zambia from August 2012 to March 2013. The work focuses on cascading and strengthening in Zambia of pioneering work on Centres of Excellence (COE’s) on Gender Mainstreaming for Local Government across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region by Gender Links (GL) and local government associations. The report incorporates the analysis of council institutional profiles and projects obtained through the Centres of Excellence (COE) process and the SADC Protocol 2013 summit. The report covers the activities undertaken in 22 councils in Zambia and the activities that Gender Links Zambia has been doing in conjunction with its partners.
First Lady Monica Chakwera Donates Rice, Soya Blend to Chilanga School for Blind

Lilongwe, April 20, Mana: First Lady, Madame Monica Chakwera on Tuesday, donated 121 cartons of rice and soy blend at Chilanga School for the blind in Kasungu.
Communications Officer in the office of the First lady, Priscilla Chimphinda, said it is Madame Chakwera’s wish to see the visually impaired and other vulnerable groups being assisted to cushion their challenges.
“We donated these 121 cartons of food, from the first lady with help from Feed the Hungry,” she said.
The school was established in 1954, under Nkhoma Synod of the CCAP and has a total population of 115 pupils, where 72 are virtually impaired with 43 boys and 29 girls, and the rest have various types of impairments.
Magistrate Banda is the one presiding over the matter.
National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera over the week confirmed of the arrest of the officers.
According to Kadadzera, the officers aided fifteen Somalis and three Ethiopians to pass freely point on April 2, 2021.
Kadadzera who said that the officers are both from Kasungu are believed to have received bribes from the said immigrants.
Their move was busted by Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officers who intercepted the illegal activity at Chilanga area in Kasungu district on April 2, 2021 reads part of the statement.
