KARACHI: Speakers at a webinar organised by the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) and the Dow University of Health Sciences on Saturday highlighted the uses and benefits of robotic surgery and how it was transforming the field of medicine the world over.
The Society of Surgeons of Pakistan, Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Pakistan and Pakistan Association of Urological Surgeons (PAUS) also collaborated in the event.
During the webinar titled ‘The role of robotic surgery in developing countries’ speakers focused on the role of robotic surgery in the fields of urology, general surgery and gynaecology.
There was a general consensus that robotic surgery would become a hallmark of surgery due to its benefits which include significantly less pain, less blood loss, less risk of infection, less scarring, shorter hospital stay and quicker recovery time.
