THE government has assured that all the 1,900 remaining villages will be connected to power during the implementation of the forthcoming Rural Energy Agency (REA-III) Phase II project which has already commenced.

Fruit processing plan to curb post-harvest losses
THE government has unveiled a plan to bring up small-scale processing factories across the country so as to curb post-harvest losses.

Exaud Kigahe, the Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, told MPs here yesterday that the government was aware of the post-harvest losses, including perishable fruits and it was taking measures to address the challenge.
He said apart from setting up processing industries there is also need for having adequate cold storage facilities to ensure that losses are minimised.
