Government set to review student’s loan repayment regulations -Kipanga
THE government is planning to review regulations so as to reduce monthly deductions and loan repayment charges posed to the beneficiaries of loans of the Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB).
Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Technology Kipanga Juma Omary told the National Assembly on Wednesday here that the move is aimed to reduce the burden of paying the loans which the beneficiaries carry after completing their studies.
The deputy minister said this while responding to a supplementary question by Special Seats MP, Halima Mdee (Chadema) who claimed that the majority of the beneficiaries of the HESLB loans have been struggling to pay the loans even if they have no income generating activity after completing their studies.

The private sector must include activities that promote promote national unity in their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

“ If the corporate sector could step forward to help civil society on national unity, it would be investing directly in the nation’s stability, which was critical for business to flourish and economic activities to grow”, said deputy minister Ummy Nderiananga.
“The corporate sector has not done much, for example, to promote unity or to help civil society groups to play their role in fostering national unity,”she explained.

Mbeya City Council to collect 74.9bn/- in 2021/22 fiscal year
MBEYA City Council is planning to collect a total of 74.9bn/- in the 2021/22 fiscal year from internal revenue sources including tax collections, the city’s executive director Amede Ng’wanidako has said.

The director said here during the councilors meeting at the weekend to discuss the budget proposals and estimates for the forthcoming fiscal year.
He said among the funds, 16.6bn/ will be from internal revenue, 49.5bn/-, a grant from the central government for staff salaries, 1.6bn/- is for recurrent expenditure and 3.5bn/- is the implementation of several projects.

MEMBERS of Parliament yesterday mourned fallen Muhambwe Constituency MP and former deputy minister Eng Atashasta Nditiye (52) eulogizing him as a responsible leader and important member of the Local Authorities Accounts Committee.
Suspending the parliamentary session, Speaker Job Ndugai said Eng Nditiye passed away as he was receiving treatment at the Benjamin Mkapa referral hospital in Dodoma.
“Nditiye got in an accident on Wednesday 10 Feb 2021 at Nanenane area and was rushed to Dodoma regional referral hospital, before being transferred to the Benjamin Mkapa hospital for further treatment. He passed on Friday 12th February at 10.00am,” he said, noting further that Section 173 of the Parliamentary Standing Orders empower the Speaker to suspend the parliamentary session until the following day, hence Saturday at 9.00am.
