West Bengal elections 2021: TMC likely to release poll manifesto today

Kolkata, Mar 17: The Chairperson of All India Trinamool Congress, Mamata Banerjee will be addressing the media from her Kalighat Office on Wednesday for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections 2021.
As per reports, TMC is likely to announce its poll manifesto today.
The TMC had announced it will release its manifesto on March 9 but later decided to postpone it to March 11 due to the Kolkata fire incident which claimed nine lives.
The ruling party had not released its manifesto on Thursday, following the alleged attack on Banerjee during a campaign in Purba Medinipur s Nandigram on March 10.

New Delhi, Mar 17: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee likely to skip Prime Minister Narendra Modi s Covid-review meet at 12.30 pm with chief ministers of all states and UTs on Wednesday because of her prescheduled public meetings in Jhargram.
She is set to attend two rallies in Jhargram - the first in Lalgarh at 12 noon and another in Gopiballavpur at 2pm.
Prime Minister will on Wednesday chair a meeting with Chief Ministers of all states on the Covid-19 situation in the country and the ongoing vaccination drive as the central government seeks to ramp up the inoculation programme amid a sudden resurge in infections across India.

New Delhi, Mar 17: A 76-year-old woman died after she was slapped by her son following an argument between them in Dwarka here, police said on Tuesday.

In the CCTV footage of the incident that occurred on Monday afternoon, the woman, Avtar Kaur, can be seen being slapped by her son on the face, after which she became unconscious and fell on the ground.
After the video emerged, the police registered a case against her 45-year-old son under section 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Bindapur police station and arrested him.

New Delhi, Mar 17: Twenty-two of the world s 30 most polluted cities are in India, with Delhi being ranked as the most polluted capital city globally, a new report said on Tuesday.
The report is prepared by Swiss organisation, IQAir, in the form of the World Air Quality Report, 2020 , which has released globally.
The report, however, shows that Delhi s air quality improved by approximately 15 per cent from 2019 to 2020.
It said that despite the improvement, Delhi ranked as the 10th most polluted city and the top polluted capital city in the world. India continues to feature prominently at the top of the most polluted cities ranking, with 22 of the top 30 most polluted cities globally, the report said.
NEET UG 2021: Odisha govt urges NTA to open additional exam centres amid COVID-19

Bhubaneswar, Mar 17: The Odisha government has urged the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct the All- India NEET UG 2021 examinations in all the 30 districts of the state instead of selected seven cities.
The request was made by Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, P K Mohapatra in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation still prevailing in the state.
The All India NEET UG Examination is conducted by the NTA for admission to MBBS/BDS courses and other undergraduate medical courses in approved/recognized Medical/Dental and other Colleges/ Institutes in India.
