A man was taken to a hospital after a head-on crash with a Penn Hills police SUV Sunday morning, authorities said.
The crash happened just after 10 a.m. on Saltsburg Road near Rosedale Street, an Allegheny County 911 supervisor said.
Penn Hills police Chief Howard Burton said the officer was on routine patrol in an SUV traveling west on Saltsburg Road when the other vehicle, traveling east, came around a bend in the road and swerved into the police vehicle’s lane.

A winning Cash 5 ticket was sold at a Washington Township store, officials with the Pennsylvania Lottery announced Monday.
The winner, who purchased the ticket at Thomas’ General Store along Saltsburg Road, will take home $195,000. The ticket was one of two that won the $390,000 jackpot. The other winning ticket was purchased at Rutter’s in York County.
The winning numbers, which were picked Saturday, were 12-14-28-32-35.
To play Cash 5, five numbers between 1 and 43 must be selected. All five numbers must be drawn to win the jackpot. Other prizes are awarded to players who match two, three or four winning numbers. According to lottery officials, more than 25,300 Cash 5 tickets also won prizes during Saturday’s drawing.

Roads continued to prove slippery in the wake of heavy snowfall across the region, but no one was injured when an SUV went over an embankment near the Murrysville-Plum border on Thursday evening.
Murrysville police said the SUV’s driver went off the roadway near the intersection of Saltsburg Road (Route 380) and Logan Ferry Road, just over the Plum border into Murrysville.

DUI Charges are pending against a Homer City man after a crash was reported by state police last Friday. Troopers say that at 11:49 PM on December 11
th, 30-year-old Kyle Miller was driving on Saltsburg Road near Route 286 in Young Township and failed to negotiate a right curve. The vehicle went uphill slightly on the East Side and rolled over, coming to rest on its driver’s side across both lanes of Saltsburg Road.
Miller fled the scene prior to the arrival of state police but was found later on at his home and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He also had multiple cuts and bruises from the crash. Police arrested Miller on suspected DUI, and charges are pending the results of a blood test.
