CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Charlestonâs Technical Review Committee is expected to vote on final approval Thursday morning for a new subdivision in the West Ashley area.
The developer, Bear Island, LLC, plans 57 new townhomes to be built as an addition to a larger project called Rhodes Crossing.
The new homes would be built in what is currently a wooded area along Sanders Road about a half-mile away from the Walmart in West Ashley.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Charlestonâs Technical Review Committee is expected to review plans for 53 new townhomes on James Island Thursday morning.
The developer, Cross Creek Shopping Center, hopes to build the new homes near 14 Cross Creek Drive, which is just off Folly Road near Maybank Highway. The developers are seeking pre-approval for the project along with the associated roadways and parking.
The project would sit on 4.48 acres of land.

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston Technical Review Committee says more than 60 additional homes are coming to the northern end of Daniel Island.
While working to finalize plans for 62 homes, The Daniel Island Company says this new section of the development will be part of the Daniel Island Park neighborhood’s final phase. Plans show the new homes will be built on an area of land that is technically a separate island connected to Daniel Island by an existing small causeway across from Lesesne Street. CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston Technical Review Committee says downtownâs Fire Station #8 will soon undergo renovations.
The historic station was located on Huger Street in downtown Charleston but records show it is closed for now. Photo evidence shows the original station had a steam fire engine and a chemical engine, along with the horses required to pull the wagons. (Source: City of Charleston)
Capers Hall to be demolished this year

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Citadelâs historic Capers Hall will soon be demolished and re-built.
Officials say this will be the first time an academic building is replaced at the college in 40 years.
A little over a year ago, the Charlestonâs Board of Architectural Review denied the demolition.
Citadel Vice President of Communications and Marketing Colonel John Dorrian says they have since discussed the need for the new building with the city and it was approved.
