Boardriders clubs surf it out for top club title at Whangamatā

Piha s Keyhole Boardriders claimed the 2021 Hurley national club championships at Whangamatā last weekend.
They edged out the local Whangamata Boardriders Club after a close battle across the clubs, with Keyhole requiring a win in the final tag team event to secure the overall title.
Two men, one woman, one junior (under 18) and one senior (over 40) make up each team and the relay-styled format gives each one hour to catch three waves.
Rotorua swimmers produce 16 top 10 finishes at National Age Group Championships

Eight Swim Rotorua members went to the 2021 Aon New Zealand Age Group Swimming Championships, returning with one bronze and 15 other top 10 finishes.
The event, held in Wellington from April 19 to 23, attracted more than 450 of the top age group swimmers in New Zealand, aged 13 to 16.
Swim Rotorua head coach Aidan Withington said most of the team were younger and were competing for the first time at a national event. This was a great experience for the team, he said.
Deng Yalan, 22, won her first national gold at the 2021 Chinese National Gymnastics Championships by scoring 14.599 points in the women s vault, reports Xinhua.
