Turning over his left shoulder as the ball flew off the bat of El Paso Chihuahuas pinch hitter Gosuke Katoh on Friday night, the Albuquerque Isotopes center fielder was in a full sprint until he looked back up over his right shoulder, reached up and snagged the ball from the air just a few feet up the hill in deep center field some 400-plus feet from home plate before falling to the ground.

Between the smile, the high-energy approach to the game, the cavernous dimple on his left cheek and that flowing hair fighting its way out of the back of his helmet when he’s at the plate, the 26-year-old San Diego native who has bounced back and forth a few times this season between the Colorado Rockies and Albuquerque Isotopes pretty much personifies fun.
