As of March 1, restaurants in Massachusetts will no longer be subject to percentage-based capacity limits, as the state enters Phase 3, Step 2 of its reopening plan. Gov. Charlie Baker announced the news in his February 25 press briefing. Restaurants will also be allowed to host musical performances.
The course change eases restrictions that were put in place on February 8 that capped restaurant capacities at 40 percent. (Capacities had been capped at 25 percent before that.) Other restrictions will remain in place, including current rules around masking everyone must wear a mask at all times unless they are in the act of eating or drinking, or unless they are unable to due to a medical condition or disability and social distancing all tables must be placed at least six feet apart. All seated table service will still be limited to 90 minutes, and party size will still be capped at six diners.
Union’s Aging In Place offers free St. Patrick’s takeaway meals to seniors

This coming Saint Patrick’s Day, all Union residents in the 55+ community can enjoy a meal free of charge, sponsored in part by the Aging In Place Committee of Union.
This unique Saint Patrick’s theme luncheon, complete with all of the traditional trimmings, will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 11:30 a.m.
You can expect to enjoy corn beef, cabbage, carrots, potato, rolls, cookies and a bottled water.
Due to COVID 19, this meal can be safely picked up curbside at the William L Pullen Municipal Building meeting room at the back of the Town Office, at 567 Common Road, according to AIP, in a news release. For those that cannot do curbside pickup, delivery will be available so please specify delivery when you RSVP.

Healthy Lincoln County and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office are working together to provide local restaurants, bars, and stores with Alcohol Seller/Server training on Wednesday, Feb. 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Boothbay Planning Board tabled a request Feb. 17 by Karen’s Hideway for a change of use. Co-owner Garry Blackman requested a change of use from a mobile takeout business to a year round eatery. Blackman operates the 716 Wiscasset Road business with his wife Karen Blackman. The planning board asked him to submit a letter requesting a waiver from providing several application information submissions. Blackman will send the letter to Code Enforcement Officer Jason Lorrain who will distribute it to board members who will decide if the information is necessary.
Blackman explained his plan as using a nearby building, once a video rental business, for dine-in services during inclement weather and winter months.
