Kikanbo s Devil Ramen
Fellow appreciators of Japanese culture, let me weave you a tale of woe that this gaijin (me) experienced the first time I made my pilgrimage to Nippon.
The year was 2018, a year that would go down in history for me. A couple of friends and I were staying in Tokyo and doing all the tourist things. One of my close friends suggested one day that we go and try Kikanbo Ramen, as we had seen a Facebook post saying it was among the spiciest ramens available in Japan.

New data suggests that total UK food and drink sales declined by 12% during 2020, while grocery retail’s share of the market grew to 81% from 64% the year before.
The figures from IGD’s ‘Eating In vs Dining Out 2021’ report also show the eating out sector shrank by more than 50% after restaurants and pubs were closed for much of the year.
Nicola Knight, Senior Retail Analyst at IGD, commented: “Food and drink retail sales grew by 9.9% in 2020 and e-commerce was the clear winner in the sector as shoppers switched to online due to lockdown restrictions and stay-at-home guidance. But the overall food and drink market declined by 12%, predominantly driven by consumers eating more meals at home due to government closures within the eating out sector.”
CAMDEN Many wondered what would become of the classic Scottish pub Drouthy Bear after owners Andrew and Shannon Stewart announced last May that the COVID-19 virus restrictions on their beloved pub had forced them to permanently close.
The Midcoast community will be happy to know that the building has been purchased and is currently being renovated by Camden newcomers Gabriela Acero and Derek Richard to become a new restaurant. With a new aesthetic and flair, the restaurant will be called wolfpeach the name in lower case which comes from
Lycopersicum, the scientific name for ‘tomato’.
“It has all come together rather quickly,” said Acero.
