Arcing wires and pole fire knock out power for 2,105 customers in Santa Clara [Mercury News] Jan. 23 Arcing wires and a burned utility pole caused a power outage Saturday morning that knocked out electricity for 2,105 customers in Santa Clara on Pomeroy Avenue between Lochinvar and Homestead roads, said the city’s police department. The outage began at 10:39 p.m. in the southwest part of the city, affecting customers of Silicon Valley Power, the utility said. The Santa Clara Fire Department extinguished the fire and by 11:10 a.m. power had been restored to most customers. About 60 customers are still without power, according to the utility. A troubleshooter is working to restore power to the remaining customers.
