Tyrone’s traditional contest brings cheer home for the holidays
Tyrone residents plan to brighten the darkest night of this year with their annual Light Contest on Monday, when Santa Claus will join in the festivities during his annual holiday run through the community accompanied by the Tyrone Volunteer Fire Department.
In a year when most holiday gatherings are canceled due to COVID-19, the event will allow families to pile into their cars for some much needed drive-by holiday cheer.
Starting at 6 p.m., dozens of homes in the small community will plug in their festive lights to compete for the honor of being the best and brightest though those two factors are not, necessarily, the criteria for winning.

A Worle primary school enjoyed nativity performances with a difference this year.
Despite not being able to perform the usual Christmas nativities and productions at St Martin s Primary School, staff were creative and produced virtual versions in their individual year group bubbles across the school.

The plays were then uploaded online and shared with parents. Reception and year one classes put together their nativities, which were pre-recorded with children performing their individual speaking parts.
Philipsburg Christmas Story 1:47 am
A true Christmas story in Philipsburg on Sunday, with the packaging of Holiday Meals, and special deliveries made by Santa Claus himself. We tagged along with the group to help spread some Holiday Cheer.
The YMCA was practically Santa’s Workshop on Sunday. Volunteers packed, stacked, and shipped over 300 boxes of Holiday foods to those in need across Centre County. With people struggling across the Country, the need for help is at an all-time high to make sure everyone has a Merry Christmas from beginning to end. The YMCA of Centre County’s Anti-Hunger Director Mel Curtis and crew had a busy weekend. On Saturday they packed over 500 presents for children in the Christmas Program, and on Sunday the packed school backpacks with food and over 300 blessings in a box, filled with Holiday meals.
