10,000kg of Saanjh Kendras papers disposed of | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: In a unique initiative, Ludhiana police have disposed of over 10,000kg papers of Saanjh Kendras in an ecofriendly manner at a mill here. The step will not only make the offices clutter-free, but also help preserve trees as these papers will be recycled. Saanjh Kendra nodal officer Pragya Jain said, “During my visits to Saanjh Kendras, I noticed papers piled up. As the focus is to digitalise, the record of the work being done at Saanjh Kendras is maintained in computers also. Therefore, I thought of making the offices clutter-free.” “We approached a paper mill in the city to dispose of the papers. The staff of Saanjh Kendras worked for two days and made bundles of the papers. Those were loaded on a truck and sent to the mill. The old records of up to 2016-2017 have been destroyed. The total weight of the papers was 10,510kg. We have also managed to generate a revenue of Rs 1,47,140 which will go to the treasury,” she added.

Ludhiana: Knowing your autorickshaw driver is just a click away now, as the Ludhiana Police has come up with a system to get all the three-wheelers registered and give them a unique identification number (UID). A mobile application named SafeAutoPb has also been launched to help people get details, including name, address and photo of the driver, on their cellphones. In the recent past, the police have busted several auto gangs that had been robbing people and creating nuisance in the city. In some cases of murder and rape too, autorickshaws were used by the accused. Commissioner of police Rakesh Agarwal said, “The city police have busted several auto gangs involved in thefts, snatchings and loots. At times, accomplices of auto drivers pose as passengers and rob people. It has also been observed that many accused take an auto on rent and then use it to execute a crime. The auto owners don’t even take identity proofs of such drivers.”

Ludhiana cops handing over a mobile to its owner. LUDHIANA: Under a special drive started by the Ludhiana police, 100 stolen mobile phones were recovered and handed over to the respective owners, during a camp organised at Ludhiana police line on Saturday. The top cop said that the police are focusing on recovering the stolen mobiles and thus urge people to report immediately to the police in the mobile theft or snatched cases. According to officials each mobile costs at least Rs 10,000 and some even more than that. The commissioner of police, Rakesh Agarwal said that mobile is an essential commodity in which a person keeps his private data and pictures. Besides financial loss, losing a mobile also means losing private information and pictures as well. At times, this private data is misused by the miscreants. Therefore, the cyber cell of Ludhiana police was directed to trace maximum mobiles and they would manage to trace 100 mobile phones.
