Sagamore crews finish early;

BOURNE Relief for Route 6 drivers trying to get on and off Cape Cod arrived sooner than expected. Repair work on the Sagamore Bridge finished ahead of schedule, and all lanes are open for travel.
“Ultimately, this is a very good thing for the motoring public in general,” said John MacPherson, the Cape Cod Canal deputy manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.
“We have the right work crews and resources on this job because we understand how important it is to get the work done and get off the bridges as fast as possible,” MacPherson added, as part of Friday s announcement.

The Sagamore Bridge on Cape Cod is expected to reopen fully on Sunday, one month ahead of schedule, allowing construction on the Bourne Bridge to begin early, the US Army Corps of Engineers announced Friday.
With the project finished in time for the launch of tourism season on Cape Cod, the same team will move their equipment over to the Bourne Bridge and begin work that was originally scheduled for the fall.
Beginning May 1, vehicle travel will be reduced from the current two lanes in each direction to a single 12-foot lane in each direction as repairs to structural steel supports and the bridge lighting system are made.

Atwood Museum
CHATHAM The Atwood Museum, home of the Chatham Historical Society, will reopen for the 2021 season on May 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum will be open Fridays and Saturdays in May and open Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning on June 1 through Columbus Day Weekend.
All exhibits from 2020 will remain on view (with some new additions) for the 2021 season including: “Turning Point,” commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower and the stories of the early European settlers and the Native Americans, “Remembering our Heroes,” which honors the men and women who served in WWII, and the newly built wetu, a Wampanoag dwelling, on our grounds.
The Army Corps of Engineers announced on Friday that the work on the Sagamore Bridge has been completed almost a month early and that that all lanes of traffic on the bridge are now open
