Lt Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurates Mega Farmers and Growers Mela, Massive High-Density Plantation Drive at Baramulla
Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha made these remarks during his visit to Baramulla where he inaugurated a Mega Farmers and Growers Mela that was organized by the Agriculture Production & Farmers’ Welfare department as a part of the ongoing Azaadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrations.
The Lt Governor also launched a Massive High-Density Plantation drive which is aimed to introduce high yielding horticultural varieties for getting enhanced outputs in horticulture production.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor asserted that the High-Density Plantation along with value addition of agricultural and horticultural produce is the most viable option for getting better outcomes.

Srinagar: The Department of Agriculture Kashmir today distributed Pasteurised Compost Bags (PCBs) to the mushroom growers/entrepreneurs of district Srinagar and Budgam at Integrated Mushroom Development Centre (IMDC) Lalmandi, here.
On the occasion, the Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal said that the Department is working on a model aimed at generating additional income to the growers for which the Mushroom Sector is all set to increase productivity and enhance employment avenues.
He said IMDC Lalmandi is providing 2400 pasteurized compost bags and other inputs in the first phase besides this the department is committed to give all sorts of technical guidance to the interested mushroom growers and entrepreneurs for setting up new mushroom units.

Scientists from agriculture and allied sectors shared information with the participating farmers about modern techniques to be adopted in Crop Husbandry, Apiculture, Mushroom Cultivation, Kitchen gardening and backyard poultry rearing. They were also informed about various Centrally Sponsored Schemes of agriculture sector and incentives available under these schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC termed agriculture as the backbone of the country’s economy and appealed all the participating farmers to come forward and avail the technical know how being provided to them by the department through qualified agriculture technocrats.
He visited the stalls set up by the department and allied sectors and interacted with the farmers. He appealed the people to be in close rapport with the experts of agriculture and horticulture department and avail benefits of modern technology.

He said it is the fact that sound administration within the domestic field is impossible without a unified policy and the women are given due respect in this regard. He said that women empowerment can change the whole world and we should recognize the achievements of women in every sphere of life.
Director said the Department is making all efforts for accelerating women equality and empowering women for greater responsibility, he further added today’s women are self reliant and are well aware of their strength and abilities.
Asifa Nabi Apiculture Development Officer Srinagar, Mushroom Research Officer Farzana Tabasum, Nazia Ashraf, Qazi Gowher and other women participants also threw light on the topic and thanked Director Agriculture for organizing International Women’s Day for acknowledging their achievements.
