Firefighters save belongings, some pets from morning house fire

INIA COUNTY â The Saranac Community Fire Department says they were able to save several pets during efforts to stop a house fire. Unfortunately some of the pets were not able to be saved.
In a post on their Facebook page Saranac Community Fire Department said there was heavy smoke visible from three miles away at about 11:30 Thursday morning. The garage and part of the house was engulfed in flames when they arrived.
The Fire Department made an aggressive attack and were helped by Berlin Orange Fire, Clarksville Fire, Life EMS, and Ionia County Sheriff s Deputies.
Saranac man taken to hospital after Boston Township crash

BOSTON TWP. A 93-year-old Saranac man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a crash with a large farm vehicle Wednesday in Boston Township, according to the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office.
The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office and Saranac Community Fire Department responded to the crash at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, at the intersection of West Grand River Avenue and Morrison Lake Road.
Police say the Saranac man was traveling south and failed to yield to a large farm vehicle heading east. He was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
BOSTON TWP. — A home is a total loss after a fire late Sunday in Boston Township, according to the Saranac Community Fire Department.At 10:12 p.m. Jan. 10, the Saranac Community Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at Peck Lake Road and Morrison Lake Road.When firefighters arrived at the scene, they noticed heavy fire and smoke on three sides of the residence. SARANAC, Mich. â A house suffered a total loss after a fire Sunday night in Saranac.
The Saranac Community Fire Department was dispatched about 10:10 p.m. to the fire at Peck Lake Road and Morrison Lake Road.
Firefighters saw heavy fire and smoke on three sides of the home and were only able to make a defensive attack, according to the department.
