Carol Marsh | Darke County Media DARKE COUNTY Despite the challenges associated with the pandemic, the 2020 Darke County Community Christmas Drive was quite successful once again as there was a grand total of $43,566.54 collected. The total was the highest ever, surpassing the previous high of $32,091.61 in 2018.

By Doug Jenkins - WBGZ Radio The United Way’s annual Community Christmas Drive raised over $40,000 earlier month that went back out into the community. The agency was able to help about 600 individuals and families throughout the Riverbend through this year’s effort. Due to health concerns over COVID, this year they only asked for monetary donations rather than physical items. United Way of SW Illinois Director Maura Wuellner tells the Big Z the agencies and the people they serve are grateful that they are carrying on. Christmas drive needs your help Staff report DARKE COUNTY The 2020 Darke County Community Christmas Drive is slightly behind last year’s pace, so the help of generous supporters will be needed down the stretch. At this point, there is a total of $19,745.89 from the giving through buckets, business donations and private donations. Contributions can still be made at the various locations throughout the county on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 18 and 19, and then on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 21 and 22. Donations can also be made to the “Darke County Community Christmas Drive” by mailing them to the Greenville National Bank, P.O. Box 190, Greenville, Ohio 45331, or by dropping off a donation to Treasurer Mike Boyer at the main branch of the Greenville National Bank.
