It comes as the Marshall Liberal Government confirms opening dates for additional mass vaccination clinics that will begin delivering vaccinations before the end of this month. Minister for Health and Wellbeing said General Practices (GPs) across the state are flexing up their distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, with the support of the Commonwealth Government, to include those in Phase 2a of the rollout program. “Most people will receive their COVID-19 vaccination through their GP and it is great news that our GP clinics will begin offering vaccines to South Australians aged 50 years and over from today,” said Minister Wade.

Date Time Land for new ambulance station secured in Strathalbyn In another boost to our ambulance service, the Marshall Liberal Government has acquired land for a new $3.9 million ambulance station at Strathalbyn, following last week’s announcement that the Government would hire an extra 74 ambulance officers. Minister for Health and Wellbeing Stephen Wade today confirmed the acquisition of land on Dry Plains Road for the purpose-built SA Ambulance Service SAAS station. “The population of the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula is booming, and we need to ensure that our hard-working ambos have enough room to accommodate future increases in staff, along with the garaging for more operational vehicles,” Minister Wade said.

Community Grants to Support Suicide Prevention Initiatives

Applications are now open for the 2021/22 South Australian Suicide Prevention Community Grants Scheme. Community groups and non-government organisations can apply for grants between $500 and $10,000 for local projects or activities that support suicide prevention. “The SA Suicide Prevention Community Grants empower community groups and non-government organisations to deliver life changing work in suicide prevention, and positively change lives for the better across the state with important localised suicide prevention projects”, said Dan Cregan MP. Chief Executive of Wellbeing SA, Lyn Dean, said “Suicide Prevention Grants empower communities to break-down stigma, increase connection and hope, and respond with empathy and compassion, all of which can help save lives. Apply now for a South Australian Suicide Prevention Community Grant; your innovative idea could make a real difference where it matters most, your local community.”
