On March 1, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai will pay tribute to film scores and songs composed by Vanraj Bhatia. Tabla player Zakir Hussain, the Symphony Orchestra of India, and Tushar Bhatia’s music group Swaradhara will perform Bhatia’s tunes. The 90-year-old composer will attend the event.

New Delhi [India], May 7 (ANI): Padma Shri awardee music composer Vanraj Bhatia passed away on Friday at the age of 93. The veteran musician was reportedly battling poor health and financial constraints.
As per reports, his health further deteriorated for the last couple of months while he remained with only a little activity at his home, where he ultimately passed away.
The legendary composer had won the National Film Award for Best Music for Govind Nihalani s Tamas in 1988 and the Padma Shri in 2012. He carved his niche with his distinct notes in the seventies and the eighties in the art cinema circuit.

Mumbai, May 7 : Music director Vanraj Bhatia passed away at his residence in the city on Friday. He was 93.
Bhatia rose to fame scoring music in an array of arthouse and middle-of-the-road films in the seventies and eighties, such as Ankur , Manthan , Bhumika , Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro , Mohan Joshi Haazir Ho! and 36 Chowringhee Lane , as well as TV shows Wagle Ki Duniya and Banegi Apni Baat . He was reportedly bedridden due to age-related issues. He had not been well for a while now.
