Thirteen more Covid-19 patients died at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the early hours of Friday, a senior health department official said, taking to 75 the number of people who have succumbed at the government-run facility here in the last four days. The horror at the GMCH is continuing even as the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court is hearing petitions related to deaths during the dark hours at the premier hospital. While the state government has not revealed the exact cause of recent deaths at the GMCH, it has told the HC that there were logistic issues related to supply of medical oxygen to patients.

Panaji, May 14 : Thirteen Covid patients died at Goa s apex government hospital, the Goa Medical College, in the early hours of Friday owing to oxygen mismanagement, even as the death toll of patients who died between 2 am and 6 am at the premier facility in the last four days reached 75.

Panaji (Goa) [India], May 14 (ANI): Goa Forward Party (GFP) on Thursday filed a complaint with the police against Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Chief Secretary Parimal Rai and nodal officer for oxygen allocation to hospitals Swetika Sachan for causing deaths of several COVID-19 patients due to interrupted supply of oxygen in Goa Medical College Hospital .
GFP Employees Forward convenor John Nazareth filed the complaint at Agacaim police station under Sections 336, 337, 338 and 304(A) read with Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

On May 11, Goa recorded 75 Covid-19 deaths, its highest single-day death toll since the pandemic began in March 2020. The state’s cumulative death toll stands at 1,804, or about 0.12 per cent of its population. Panaji, May 12 : The dean of the state government s apex health facility, the Goa Medical College, has defended the use of ivermectin as a preventive drug for Covid prevention for all persons above 18 year in Goa even as WHO believes otherwise.
The dean Dr. Shivanand Bandekar said that ivermectin is a very good drug and that there were clinical trials to prove the same. There are many trials on this. It is considered to be a very good drug. It is a very good drug and our expert committee, the state expert committee has accepted it no, the dean has said.
