On May 11, Goa recorded 75 Covid-19 deaths, its highest single-day death toll since the pandemic began in March 2020. The state’s cumulative death toll stands at 1,804, or about 0.12 per cent of its population. These are alarming facts for a state that also had the highest positivity rate in India from May 5-11, at 49.6 per cent. According to the Union health ministry, only eight other states have positivity rates higher than 25 per cent.
