JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The Jacksonville Sheriff s Office arrested a suspect in a series of attacks on women in the Biscayne Boulevard area on the Northside.
During these incidents, a young male reportedly hid in dark areas around structures and bushes in the area.
He then reportedly approached victims who were alone and forcefully grabbed them from behind. Each of the women involved in these incidents fought off the attacker and he ran away, police said. No significant injuries or further criminal acts were reported as a result of these incidents.
Arrest made as Jacksonville police investigate ‘ambush style’ attacks

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As Jacksonville police continue to investigate a series of reported attacks on women in the Biscayne Boulevard area of the Northside, the Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday reported that it made an arrest in at least one of the incidents.
The Sheriff’s Office said Cole Wright, 18, was arrested following JSO’s original request for assistance from the community in its investigation. He was interviewed by police and arrested for felony battery and false imprisonment.

JSO said Wright was also identified as a suspect in a burglary that was reported in August 2020 and faces that charge as well. The Duval County jail log showed Wednesday he was held on a $275,000 bond.
Hastings edges North Platte Seniors to win district title

Hastings scored a run in the top of the eighth inning and held on in the bottom half to defeat the North Platte FNBO Seniors, 3-2, in the championship game of the Area 7 tournament at Memorial Field in Kearney
Both teams advance to the state tournament, which will begin on Saturday. North Platte (33-19) will play in the National division in Lincoln, while Hastings will play in the American division.
The district final was a pitcher’s dual between Creighton Jacobitz of Hastings and North Platte’s Tate Janas. Neither team scored in the first four innings. In the top of the fifth inning, Hastings went up when Tyson LeBar hit a two-run single into right field.
