The contest is being run by Quality Meat Scotland’s (QMS) Scotch Butchers Club – a network of independent butchers across Great Britain who are approved stockists of Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork.

Butchers enjoy bumper year as lockdown boosts sales 1 April 2021 | High-street butcher’s shops have enjoyed a bumper year over the last 12 months Butchers have seen a significant increase in value in year-on-year sales and remain one of the strongest red meat retailers in Britain. New analysis from the last 12 months, ending on 21 February 2021, confirms that the public have turned to their high-street butchers. Around 630,000 more households visited independent retail butchers in Britain compared to the previous year, according to figures by Kantar. The public have spent nearly 50% more per shopping trip in the butcher shop compared to other retailers when purchasing meat.

Seventy-one-year-old Charmaine Bain and daughter Anne-Marie, 42, run Aberdeenshire Larder in Ellon as a team, bringing top quality red meat to customers from the local area and restaurant industry in the north-east and beyond. As a family-run business of over 50 years, the Bains have developed close relationships with local Scotch-assured farms to sell high-quality Scotch beef and Scotch lamb.
