PASIG CITY, Jan. 28 (PIA) – The Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) happily received 180 boxes of McDonald’s Happy Meal toys from the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Philippines.
PMC’s Acting Chief of Staff Col. Larry C. Batalla PN(M) GSC received the donations from RMHC’s finance and administrative officer, Ms. Erlinda C. Adlawan on Wednesday at the Marine Barracks in Fort Bonifacio.
Col. Batalla was joined by Col. Jessie Jovette C. Cerbo PN(M) GSC, the assistant chief of staff for Civil-Military Operations, PMC and BGen. Rodylyn T. Manzano PN(M) (Res). The donated toys are intended to support civil-military projects of all Marine Brigades and Marine Battalions.

As the world reels from the effects of COVID-19, the local government unit of Taguig City has put effective interventions in place to protect its constituents and address their needs amidst the rapid economic downturn.
Right after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte declared a State of Public Health Emergency in March, the local government, under the leadership of Mayor Lino S. Cayetano, immediately implemented a lockdown in the city an aggressive step aimed at arresting the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The city also set into motion a number of actions that had been laid out in a comprehensive program, including the distribution of stay-at-home packs; free rides for health workers and those who are sick (Libreng Sakay and Libreng Hatid at Sundo); telemedicine; testing; and distribution of various forms of aid to different sectors of the community.

Rear Adm. Adeluis Bordado took over from Dela Cruz as the Navy vice commander in a ceremony held at the Naval Station Jose Francisco in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on Monday.
Vice Adm. Giovanni Carlo Bacordo, PN Flag Officer in Command, paid tribute to Dela Cruz’s “invaluable and selfless service” as he presided over the joint Change of Chief of Office and Retirement Ceremony in honor of the retired military official.
“The year 2020 has really been one of the most challenging years that one could ever live through in both global and national history because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But the PN was able to push through with all of the simultaneous tasks this year because this Command had greatly benefitted from RAdm Dela Cruz’s swift and recognizable efforts and wisdom, which helped and supported me in many difficult decisions,” Bacordo said.
