An investigator will be added to the staff of the Webster County Attorney’s Office this summer.
The investigator will assist the Fort Dodge Police Department, Webster County Sheriff’s Department, the Dayton Police Department and the Gowrie Police Department.
With no discussion, the Fort Dodge City Council on Monday approved the agreement that will create the position. Councilmen Andy Fritz and Jeff Halter were absent from the otherwise unanimous vote.
The Webster County Board of Supervisors approved the agreement on April 27.
Under that agreement, the city will pay 60 percent of the investigator’s salary.
The county will pay 40 percent of the salary and the employer’s share of health insurance and other benefits.

A new contract with police officers was unanimously approved by the Fort Dodge City Council on Monday.
It is a one-year deal that goes into effect July 1 and ends June 30, 2022.
Officers will receive a 2 percent raise on July 1 and a 2 percent raise on Jan. 1, 2022.
Detectives will receive supplemental pay of 25 cents an hour whenever they are called out at times when they are not scheduled to work.
The pact with Public Professional and Maintenance Employees Local 2003 covers patrol officers, detectives, sergeants and lieutenants.
In another human resources matter, the council extended some additional leave time for workers who become ill with COVID-19 or have family members that get sick from the virus.

The Fort Dodge City Council on Monday approved the second reading of a measure that will regulate signs on the Crossroads Mall site as it is redeveloped into Corridor Plaza.
The measure will not lead to any remarkable changes in the signs that the public will see there. Instead, it will require those signs to comply with the same rules as all the nearby areas that are zoned for commercial use.
The council approved the reading unanimously. It must be approved once more to become law.
In other business Monday, the council purchased property at 146 N. Eighth St. from Richard and Vikki Clark, of Fort Dodge, for $60,000. The couple will be paid an additional $20,000 for demolishing the house.
