Aldi has announced that Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake will return to stores on Monday, following the news that Marks & Spencer is suing the budget supermarket chain over the cakes similarities to its Colin Caterpillar Cake.
Last month, M&S lodged an intellectual property claim with the High Court arguing the similarity of Aldi s product -the £4.99 Cuthbert Cake - leads consumers to believe they are of the same standard and ride on the coat-tails of M&S reputation with the product.
Aldi s cake has not been seen in stores since because it s a seasonal product, but the German discounter has now said the cake will be available from next week.
Twitter users have gone wild over the news that Marks & Spencer is suing Aldi over a copycat version of their £7 Colin the Caterpillar cake - and shared hilarious memes to poke fun at the decision.
The grocery giant claimed Aldi was riding on the coat-tails of its reputation and launched an intellectual property claim with the High Court last week week.
And since the news broke, social media users have rejoiced with #CaterpillarWars and #FreeCuthbert trending.
Morrisons also joined the trend joking their cake Morris was in disguise to not get caught
One Twitter user joked that Netflix would be making a documentary about the trial of the cakes
