The fossils included teeth of a camel-like creature called Camelops and an upper molar tooth of an ancient horse, plus some other bones that have not yet been identified. Paul Murphey, vice president and paleontology program director for Paleo Solutions, said his company works with Kiewit Corporation, the contractor for the Central 70 Project. Should crews find suspected fossils, Paleo Solutions, a paleontological and cultural resources consulting service company, would send a paleontologist out to investigate.

Central 70 Project meets dozens of milestones, over 1 million hours in 2020

The Colorado Department of Transportation s Central 70 Project made significant progress in 2020, accomplishing dozens of major milestones and getting in more than 1 million hours worked this year. The infrastructure project is the largest in the state s history, reconstructing a 10-mile stretch of Interstate 70, adding an Express Lane in each direction, removing the viaduct and lowering I-70 between Brighton and Colorado boulevards. This year, 16 ramps were reconstructed, two bridges were completed and the remaining 18 bridges are now under construction. In addition, nearly 29,000 feet of sidewalk were constructed, over 1.66 million cubic yards of dirt were excavated and over 500,000 tons of asphalt were placed for the westbound lanes, several weeks ahead of schedule.

Section of I-70 to close for entire weekend in Colorado

Drivers are advised to plan ahead for a weekend-long closure of a section Interstate 70 in Denver, Colorado.Â The closure will be in place on Interstate 70 between Brighton Boulevard and I-270 for a full weekend, beginning at 10:00 PM on Friday, December 18th and continuing through 5:00 AM, Monday, December 21st. Both directions of the interstate will be closed, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. As part of the Colorado Department of Transportation s Central 70 Project, the closure will allow for crews to demolish the remaining portion of the old Colorado Boulevard bridge over Interstate 70. âWhile a full weekend closure might feel like a major inconvenience, it actually allows construction crews to complete work that could potentially take months of nightly lane closures in just one weekend,â said Project Director Bob Hays. âWe greatly appreciate the publicâs patience during these closures and are looking forward to ticking off another
