(The Center Square) The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has the governor of Wyoming s support to go forward with a wild horse gather in the southwestern part of the state.
Wyoming s southwestern gather will manage herds across Carbon, Fremont, Lincoln, Sublette, and Sweetwater counties, according to a
press release from Governor Mark Gordon s office. The federal agency, which manages resources on 18 million acres in Wyoming, has
determined that there are excess wild horses within the Adobe Town, Salt Wells Creek, Great Divide Basin, White Mountain and Little Colorado [Habitat Management Areas].

These areas lie on checkerboard lands (alternating parcels of public and private lands) in Carbon, Fremont, Lincoln, Sublette, and Sweetwater counties, the governor’s office said.

Public comment closed Friday, April 30, for the BLM’s Environmental Assessment (EA) on the proposed wild horse gather, removal and non-permanent fertility control program.
In that assessment, the BLM said the gather is meant to prevent deterioration of the rangeland from this overpopulation and to remove wild horses from public lands outside the HMAs in areas not designated for their long-term use and from private lands at the landowner’s request.

While Biden has overturned a number of previous administrations’ policies, his plans for managing the 1971 Free-Roaming Wild Horse and Burro Act (The Act) are still up in the air. But environmentalist groups are leading the charge, hoping the new administration will boot the grazing competition on any public lands.
More than 70 groups have sent a letter to the Biden Administration’s new Interior Secretary, asking that all livestock grazing allotments that overlap designated herd management areas (HMAs) be canceled. The letter, dated April 9, claims that the removal of the cattle will “promote rapid progress toward” establishing a “Thriving Natural Ecological Balance” for all species occupying federal rangelands.

The world is full of wonderful and amazing natural scenery, many of them located in the United States. One of these is the Grand Canyon. Just imagine an amazing view, with a gorgeous desert and mountainous landscape in the background. When you look down, there is an amazing canyon with a river on the bottom and so breathtaking that it makes people feel like they could become an eagle and just soar around this beautiful place. There are animals, birds, trees and so much beauty that it could inspire anyone to do anything. It is one of the most awe-inspiring places Iâve ever been in and would recommend it to all. But now imagine looking at this with a radioactive suit on, and looking more like a wasteland. The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) works hard to provide fun and unique fishing opportunities for anglers. Arizona has two native trout species that many anglers have on their bucket list to catch, Gila and Apache trout. The department has stocked these two threatened species in selected waters in the state.
Anglers are always interested in new fishing opportunities, and sometimes that comes with added responsibilities. That is the case with some trout streams recently identified by AZGFD. The department has been working for several years to establish recovery streams for Gila and Apache trout populations. Many of these streams are in Rim Country and the White Mountains in areas where these fish were found historically. Some of these streams will soon be open to fishing with restrictions, offering anglers a chance to catch wild, native Arizona trout.
