Statistics show that even in Korea the sports car has become a remedy for people s midlife crisis.
Buyers in their 20s, who once favored subcompacts, are driving imported Mercedes, while those in their 50s and 60s are buying BMW sports cars and SUVs and Porsches. Startlingly, the largest customers segment for Minis are people in their 50s.
The findings come from analysis of data from the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association.
◆ Younger Buyers Favor Mercedes, Older Ones Sports Cars
The BMW badge has legions of fans enamored of the handling and performance of the Bavarian cars. But the proportion of customers in their 20s and 30s fell from 54 percent of total buyers to 48.8 percent in the last five years, while those in their 50s and 60s have increased.
