Juboraj-led gang active in capital

A terror gang allegedly led by one Juboraj has long been committing various crimes, including extortion and drug trade, in the capital s Cantonment, Vasantek and Pallabi, creating panic among residents in the areas.
Locals said the gang is carrying out criminal activities in the areas, but law enforcers could not arrest its members, including Juboraj.
The police officers concerned admitted the fact to the Daily Sun and said they are trying to arrest him and his associates.
The criminal activities of Juboraj came to the fore after some members of his gang opened fire on a construction contractor, Arab Ali, at West Matikata in Cantonment area on March 30 this year.

DHAKA, Dec 20, 2020 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced two persons, including the mother, to death for killing five-year-old Khandaker Samiul Azim Wafi in June 2010.
The convicts are: Samiul’s mother Esha and Shamsuzzaman Arif alias Bakku, boyfriend of Esha.
Judge Shaikh Nazmul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 handed down the sentence in their absence.
The court also issued arrest warrants against them as they were absconding when the verdict was announced.
Samiul, a student of play group of Green Wood International School in Nabboddya Housing under Adabor Police Station, was allegedly killed by his mother Esha and her paramour Shamsuzzaman Arif in 2010.

The convicts are: Humaira Akhter Ayesha and Shamsuzzaman Arif alias Bakku.
Judge Shaikh Nazmul Alam of the Special Judge Court-4 of Dhaka handed down the sentence in their absence.
The judge observed that the mother, along with her lover, had committed a heinous crime by killing her son. So, she deserved the capital punishment, the judge observed.
The punishment of the fugitives will be effective from the day of their arrest or surrender, the judge added.
