GALESBURG A mother has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of her 7-year-old daughter on Sunday.
According to a Galesburg Police Department news release, police responded to the 1500 block of McKnight Street in reference to an unknown problem with a child. Upon arrival, a 7-year-old female victim was found dead from apparent knife wounds.
A joint investigation was conducted by the Galesburg Police Department, Knox County Sheriff s office, Knox County State s Attorney s Office and the Illinois State Police.
As a result of the investigation, the victim s mother, Hazel L. Ivy, 29, has been arrested and charged with murder in the first degree.

GALESBURG A man wanted in connection to a New Year Day s shooting in Galesburg has been arrested, according to Galesburg Police.
In a news release, the Galesburg Police Department announced Kyle D. Reddick, 27 of Galesburg, was located and arrested Saturday by the U.S. Marshall s Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force in Las Vegas.
The shooting about 2:30 a.m. New Year s Day in the 1000 block of Monroe Street.
According to the Galesburg Police Department, the gunfire emanated from a residence and targeted a vehicle. The victims were in the vehicle at the time.
The four victims transported themselves to OSF HealthCare St. Mary Medical Center, where they were being treated for gunshot wounds, according to police.
