1/1 A DRUG dealer caught with more than a kilo of cannabis has narrowly avoided being sent to prison. Alexander Goodridge was caught with 1,150 grams of cannabis and 18.5 grams of cocaine. However, the 31-year-old was caught again just months later - while on bail - with more cannabis, a court heard. Officers also seized a total of £640 in cash from the “full-time carer”, according to prosecutor, Gary Venturi. Appearing at Southampton Crown Court, Goodridge, of Peel Hill, in Romsey, was charged with possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply. He was also charged with possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply, and being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug to another.

Sandown man jailed for razor assault on child

A SANDOWN man has been jailed for nine months after brandishing a cut throat razor and injuring a six year old boy. The child was trying to protect his mother from an attack by pensioner, Stephen Douglas White, the Isle of Wight Crown Court heard yesterday (Friday). White, 67, of George Street, admitted inflicting actual bodily harm against the boy by cutting his finger, assaulting a woman by beating, causing criminal damage and possessing a weapon, namely a stun gun, on January 24. He was also in breach of a conditional discharge for an offence of battery. Police and an ambulance were called to an address in Sandown following a report of violence.

Jail for Jekyll and Hyde husband who subjected wife to controlling abuse

Swindon Crown Court A HIGHWORTH pensioner who compared himself to Jekyll and Hyde has been jailed for a six-month campaign of controlling abuse against his vulnerable wife. Clifford Pyle controlled access to his wife’s medication, called her vile names and threatened her with knives. The 71-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of controlling and coercive behaviour on the day of his trial in January. Sending Pyle to prison for 21 months on Wednesday, Recorder Roger Harris said: “There is very noticeable lack of remorse on your part.” Swindon Crown Court was told Pyle had been married to his wife, who has learning difficulties, for 11 years.
