Kochi: Pinarayi Vijayan’s home village of Dharmadom in Kannur had been buzzing with the excitement of a rally addressed by the leader after what was a pretty long gap.
With a charged audience on his side, Vijayan – who is called ‘captain’ by his supporters on social media – took the lectern. What followed was one of the most scathing attacks on Union home minister Amit Shah by a member of the opposition on a chair as high as a chief minister’s.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Nationalist Congress Party on Monday expelled Kerala MLA Mani C Kappan as he left the party to join the United Democratic Front (UDF) ahead of the Assembly elections. The NCP said it expelled Kappan from the party with immediate effect for his anti-party activities .

SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT Older people are making decisions for a young majority in the country, Shashi Tharoor, MP, has said.
“India is already 51% under the age of 25. This is your country. You are the majority. But do you get a say in what is actually done to rule the country,” he asked students of St. Teresa’s College at an interactive session on Monday. Mr. Tharoor pointed out that the country held the world record for the average age of the population at 27, and the average age of the cabinet at 63. “There is no country with a bigger gap,” he said.
