What happened: The board unanimously decided against supporting the creation of a county health department, based on a resolution passed recently by the Lancaster County Association of Township Supervisors. The board did not formally vote on a localized resolution. Supervisor Gary Landis said a letter needs to be written to the supervisorsâ association and the Lancaster County commissioners to inform them of the decision. Vice Chairman Keith Martin suggested sending the same letter to both.
Background: In March, Manheim Township Commissioners adopted a resolution urging the creation of a county health department and sent a letter to all municipal and school boards urging them to do the same. The request has received mixed reactions throughout the county.

VICTORIA – BC Ferries should buy new ships where ever they can get the best deal.
But it’s irresponsible to bar B.C. shipyards from even trying to win construction contracts for new ferries that could be worth $500 million – 25 per cent of BC Ferries’ capital budget for the next decade.
I’m not one of those who would argue that it’s worth paying more to build the ships in B.C.
But this decision, in the words of Liberal MLA Dan Jarvis, looks “blatantly stupid.”
BC Ferries needs two or three new mid-size ships, and hopes to award the contracts this fall.

Fentanyl, which was created as a drug for cancer patients, is often mixed with cocaine, heroin, or meth to intensify the high.
Project Wave Breaker launched last month to stop the dangerous drug from making its way into the country. DEA special agent in charge Keith Martin said there have been record-breaking busts of fentanyl since the launch.
