Camden nonprofits host online mayoral candidates forum
A coalition of Camden nonprofits will host an online forum for residents to question mayoral candidates and hear about their stance on issues including education, political representation, government and workers rights.
The forum will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday and will be shown via Streamyard, a live-streaming platform. Viewers can access the forum via Facebook and YouTube, and may submit their questions via Facebook Live.
Camden Mayor Frank Moran announced his resignation effective April 30 last month after a single term. Council President Curtis Jenkins will serve as interim mayor, but in this overwhelmingly Democratic city, the winner of the June 8 primary is also likely to prevail in November.

The superintendent of Camden City public schools announced Friday confirmed that three schools will close down at the end of the school in June. The district has originally considered closing four schools as part of a cost-saving measure.
The fourth, 101-year-old Yorkship Family School, will remain open, district officials said. Sharp Elementary, Wiggins College Preparatory Lab School and Cramer Elementary are still slated to close.
