The Essardas group, which includes seven Main Street jewellery shops, decided to offer this new payment method after requests from their clientele. Governor’s Awards presented for vital service in Covid vaccination

Professor Ian Cumming and Solomon Massias, two individuals who have played a very different but vital role in the Covid-19 vaccination programme have been recognised for their efforts by the Governor. The Governor Vice Admiral Sir David Steel awarded Professor Ian Cumming and Solomon Massias and family for services and support provided to the GHA vaccination programme. The new Governor’s Award for Merit was presented to two recipients in a small event at the Convent.
Prof Cumming was instrumental in organising Gibraltar’s vaccination programme and said this was a great honour and humbling in many ways.
Gib team wins third place in CyberCenturion challenge

A junior team of Gibraltar students has won third place in the CyberCenturion cyber security challenge against tough competition from the UK.
The team of five called ‘Somebody’ scooped the prize in the junior category of the competition which was held virtually this year due to the pandemic.
Kevagn Pereira, 13, Angel Dudley, 11, Ethan Abensur, 14, Jack Skillicorn, 13, and Evgenia Grigorov, 14, cheered as the announcement was made via live stream.
Some three teams of local students had secured their places in the final of the cyber security challenge, with the junior team placing in the top three.
