Cape Coral man pleads guilty to child porn possession

A Cape Coral man has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography.
Richard Altmayer, 47, was arrested in September of last year by the Cape Coral Police Department for emailing child pornography images to himself.
Altmayer has been sentenced to 15 years in prison followed by 120 months of sex offender probation.
Altmayer had attempted to turn himself in four years earlier.

On Sept. 17, a search warrant was executed at his 9th Avenue home.
Altmayer confirmed an email address police had was his account and he had created it, according to an affidavit. He told police said that he would access child pornography websites, take screenshots of the images and then email the child pornography images from his email account to himself so that he could access the images to pleasure himself.
The Cape Coral police report also said that on May 26, 2016, Altmayer, accompanied by another person, came to the police department to turn himself in for viewing child pornography.
The report said that during a detailed interview Altmayer admitted to looking at child pornography and that after he was discovered he logged into and deleted all of his accounts and child pornography images.
During the disturbance, the perpetrator fired multiple shots leading to Palmer s fatal wounding.
Police discovered bullet holes in two houses and two vehicles.

Man dies after being shot during birthday party in Cape Coral

The Cape Coral Police Department has identified the victim as Kevin Girard Palmer.
Police responded to a home in the 100 block of SE 6th Street at around 4:30 a.m., and found Palmer with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
