1 dead in officer-involved shooting in north Cape Coral, no officers injured

Cape Coral Police Department responded to a disturbance outside a home in north Cape Coral Thursday night, where interim Chief Anthony Sizemore says responding officers shot and killed a man who was armed with a gun. Lefande, 49 During a news conference, the chief confirmed two officers encountered a man with a gun outside the home and took cover before the man confronted both officers. Both officers shot at the man, who died of gunshot injuries.

Christopher J. Lefande, 49, was spotted with a gun outside his home Thursday night, according to the Cape Coral Police Department. Cape Coral police were called to the home in the 2600 block of NW 9th Street in Cape Coral for a disturbance when they found Lefande. “They encountered a man. They saw a gun on the man. They took cover,” said Cape Coral interim police Chief Anthony Sizemore. “The gentleman then confronted our officers and our officers shot and subsequently killed the suspect.”
