The Cape Coral Police Department said Edelmira Lopez was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a crash who appeared to suffer minor injuries but died on Tuesday. The crash occurred at Burnt Store Road North and Tropicana Parkway West at around 2:30 p.m. Lopez was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Iliana Munoz, also of Cape Coral. Munoz suffered minor injuries. According to Cape Coral police, Munoz was traveling east on Tropicana Parkway and stopped for a stop sign at the intersection of Burnt Store Road.

A Hyundai sedan driven by a 26-year-old Cape Coral woman was traveling north on Chiquita Boulevard in the inside lane around 10:55 p.m., according to the Cape Coral Police Department. A Ford F350 truck driven by Blain Stephen Brown, 27, was traveling north on Chiquita Blvd. in the inside lane, approaching the rear of the Hyundai at a high rate of speed. Brown did not slow and rear-ended the Hyundai, crushing its trunk into the interior of the vehicle and continuing to push the car north for around 182 feet, police said.

According to CCPD, police are in the 2700 block of SW 13th Ave, where police originally responded to reports of a domestic disturbance, which is now a scene with police responding to the individual barricaded inside the home. Police have set up a perimeter at the scene. It’s said shots might have been fired during the time of the reported domestic disturbance.
