Summer is here and so are the arts! This week you’ll find festivals, outdoor music, and dance performances. While there still may be social distance requirements remaining, many of the events our arts and culture community offers this week are live and in-person. You may also find some wonderful virtual performances as well. Stay in or go out – how wonderful to have the choice!

Regular readers of our almost-daily Facebook post will know that we stick pretty closely to the recommended daily readings (the “Daily Office lectionary”) which allow the dedicated reader to surf through the entire Bible every three years, with even more frequency for the book of Psalms (once a month), and the Gospels (all four, every year). Today, however, lets dip into ethics and the morning news. Covid-19 vaccines are in the news, with a new supplier (Johnson & Johnson hereafter J&J) making its first test report this morning and undoubtedly soon applying for emergency use approval, at the same time that public vaccination is getting underway in our county. What follows is long. Sorry. Sue me. And some of it is Steven C Wilson only, not The Episcopal Church but in all fairness, the denomination as an official body hasn’t really issued guidelines on specific vaccines. Sorry, working on my own here, and sorry, I’m a talk
As the [CVS/Walgreens] program has been implemented, most continuing care retirement communities around Virginia, especially those that are smaller than Westminster Canterbury Richmond, were able to get residents and staff at all levels of care vaccinated through the partnership, despite the fact that Independent Living was not supposed to be included.
… CVS confirmed a vaccination clinic for February 15 and 16 that we have been promoting. …
However, over the weekend and yesterday, with no warning, CVS has cancelled their agreement to vaccinate our Independent Living residents. We are aware of only one other continuing care retirement community in Virginia that is in the same situation. Clinics are also being cancelled for Independent Living facilities in other states.
A look back at memorable moments in Richmond, Va., from 2020.
From pandemic to protests, from voting to vaccines and everything in between, 2020 in the Richmond area â and across the globe â has been a year like no other.
âUnprecedentedâ is a word thrown around when describing the past 12 months (or was it 12 years?), but to come up with one that better encapsulates what has happened across our region, state, country and world would be to perhaps create a new language.
As we prepare with hopeful anticipation for a new year with new promises and priorities, the Richmond Times-Dispatch looks back on what happened locally and across the commonwealth in 2020 â the year that was.
