French Bulldog Taken at Gunpoint After Suspect Responded to Social Media Ad
On 5/15/21 at 7:37 AM EDT
A French bulldog puppy has been stolen at gunpoint in California in the latest incident involving the valuable breed being targeted by criminals.
The owner had listed the 10-month-old dog for sale in an advertisement on social media and had gone to Canterbury Drive in Culver City for a meeting with a prospective buyer on Wednesday evening.
When the owner put the dog in the trunk of his vehicle for viewing, the suspect pulled out a semi-automatic handgun from his waistband, grabbed the animal and ran away, Culver City police said.

A hot portable generator is being pointed to as the cause of a fire at a Santa Rosa home. On Saturday at a home on Canterbury Drive, the Santa Rosa Fire Department says that a resident ran the generator that afternoon and after it was shut down, the generator was not allowed time to cool off properly. So when the resident put the generator in the shed, it started a fire with some materials around it including some fuel. The resulting fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damages including burning the shed, a fence, and a portion of the house. No one was injured but the residents haven’t been able to return to the home since the fire.
UPPER GWYNEDDÂ â The two newest members of the Upper Gwynedd Police Department are currently in training, but already online.Â
Police Officer Matt Toro recently gave the board a preview of the department s next two officers, both of the four-legged variety. There are many different ways to get a police dog. It wasn t as simple as just going to one vendor, Toro said.

Late in 2019 the department decided to proceed with establishing a police canine unit, Toro said, and he and fellow officer Ed Tartar have done extensive research since then on where and how to find their future partners. Their selection was the University of Pennsylvania s PennVet Center, Toro told the board, and he and Tartar have chosen two dogs, a Belgian Malinois named Fury and a Dutch Shephard named Gunner, who are currently being trained for bomb and drug detection.
