Abc news is showing republicans hanging onto a threeseat advantage with a number of contests still up for grabs as democrats look to take control of the chamber. One seat not changing hands is maine republican susan collins, who survived a major challenge from democrat sara gideon. Collins holds on for a fifth term, winning by seven percentage points. In the house, republicans have a net gain of five seats so far. Democrats are trying to maintain their advantage in that chamber. More than a dozen races are considered tossups. This election brought a number of firsts for the lgbtq plus community. Delawares Sarah Mcbride is the first openly transgender state senator in the country. Tennessee now has its first openly lgbtq lawmakers with tori harris and eddie manus winning their races. Taylor small is vermonts first openly transgender legislator. And battleground states release new vote tallies. Cbs news projects joe biden has 253 electoral votes, just shy of 17 or rather just 17 shy georgi, President Trump is leading by a few hundred votes. A lot of eyes are on pennsylvania, which holds 20 votes. President trumps lead was 300,000 votes yesterday, but now it is down to roughly 18,000 with 95 of the votes counted. In arizona, bidens lead has shrunk to 47,000 votes, hes also up in nevada by nearly 12,000 votes. And in North Carolina, the president is up by 76,000 votes. Laura podesta is in washington, d. C. Tomorrow is the last day you can register in california for the november election. If the early numbers are any indicator, voters are eager to have their say. The secretary of States Officer sent out this tweet on friday saying more than 2. 7 million ballots have already been returned. That is well ahead of 2016. Early voting continued today outside San Francisco city hall and so far, the numbers are pretty good. We have about a 23 turnout in San Francisco, which is really good for this point in time.
