In various venues such as outdoor events, high schools, etc., I’m able to help newly qualified voters, Texas newcomers and others. Some weren’t familiar with Texas’ voting registration process. Others have seen online that they can print and mail an application. It’s exciting to see their enthusiasm about becoming a voter.

Letters to the Editor — Virus relief bill, opposing ourselves, Grinch, vaccine, student debt, translators, leaf blowers

Re: ‘How moderates broke logjam on relief,’ Wednesday news story. Thank you for publishing this story about the eight centrist lawmakers from both parties who forged a compromise deal on COVID-19 relief. I think most Americans are weary of hearing constant attacks by one party on the other, one lawmaker on another. In our work lives, we are given assignments that require working with colleagues whose approaches or perspectives do not match ours. We should expect no less of our lawmakers. Lawmakers’ constituents have full-time work, family and personal commitments, and do not need the additional burden of being asked to listen to constantly battling representatives, who themselves need to remember that they are on the same team different perspectives, sometimes drastically so, but the same team.
