Covid cases rise in Loose and Coxheath and Tovil areas of Maidstone

Covid-19 cases in an area of Maidstone where door step testing was carried out have increased by 244%.
In the seven days leading to February 4, 31 cases were reported in the Loose and Coxheath area, which was up by 22 cases from the previous seven days.

This equates to 244%.
Door-to-door coronavirus testing started in parts of Maidstone on February 2, and 9,633 kits were delivered to residents by a team from Kent Police, Kent Search and Rescue, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and Kent County Council (KCC).

Volunteers delivering door-to-door testing for the South African coronavirus variant say they have encountered almost no negativity .
About 95% of residents had accepted a test kit when offered, said Stewart Baird of Kent Search and Rescue.
Swabs were delivered to 2,697 people in Maidstone on Tuesday, with at least 2,050 already returned completed.
Volunteers had encountered almost no negativity at all on the doorstep, he said. For those that are in, over 95% are asking for testing kits, he said. Almost everyone is asking for the testing kits and handing them back an hour or two later.

His parents, Alison and Colin, say his death has left them utterly devastated. In Lucasâ 16 years of life, he proved that he had a talent for learning and achieving, they said. Highly self-motivated, he adored all things science related and was an inspiration to many of his peers who respected his drive, humour and creativity.
